Six, four year scholarships, each with a total value of $4,000.00 (1000.00 per year), will be awarded in June 2017. 
 
ELIGIBILITY
 
An applicant must be a member in good standing, or the son or daughter or legal ward of a member of a United Steelworkers, District 10 (Eastern) local union participating in the Scholarship Program; or the son or daughter or legal ward of a disabled or old age retiree or deceased member of an affiliated local union who was in good standing with the United Steelworkers at the time of their retirement or death.
 
To be eligible for the award, applicants other than members must be in the graduating classes in the year the scholarships are awarded.  Applicants who have completed one semester or more at any college or university are ineligible. 
 
HOW TO APPLY
 
Applications may be obtained, upon request, from participating local unions.  Applicants will fill out the application form giving all required information.  NO APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED UNLESS PROPERLY SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT AND RECORDING SECRETARY OF THE RESPECTIVE LOCAL UNION.  When completed, the forms should be mailed to the Scholarship Fund Committee, United Steelworkers, 625 N. Charlotte Street, 2nd Floor North, Pottstown PA 19464.
 
CLOSING DATE
Applications must be postmarked no later than midnight, March 15, 2017.  No exceptions.

Outstanding academic achievement throughout one's high school career.
Demonstration of leadership in extracurricular and/or academic activities.
Has been an active participant in one or more varsity sports during their high school career (must include senior year).

The PACAC Scholarships are each a one-year non-renewable scholarship for high school seniors graduating from PACAC member high schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This scholarship is intended to support a student's goal of continuing his or her education.

Four scholarships will be awarded in April 2016.  The top recipient will receive the $1,500 Scholarship in memory of one of our founding fathers, Benjamin James.  The other three recipients will receive a $1,000 Scholarship.

High school seniors will be selected based on:

  • Academic performance in a college prep curriculum
  • Commitment to cultural and intellectual diversity
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the end of the first semester of senior year

Each year the PA Association of Educational Office Professionals offers the Hermine Solt Student Scholarship which is a $500.00 scholarship for a PA High School senior who is pursuing higher education in a business-related field.  For complete details visit www.paeop.com under Awards & Scholarships.

Scholarships of up to $5000.00 will be awarded to women graduating from area high schools enrolling in an engineering program at a college or university in the Fall of 2013.  A copy of the application can also be found at http://lv.swe.org/scholarships.html  Applications must by postmarked by 2/12/16.
