The American Legion, Dept. of PA, is sponsoring a essay contest.  Any student in grades 9-12 may participate.  The first place winner will receive a 7500.00 scholarship.  2nd place= 5000.00 3rd place= 4000.00

This scholarship is due by 4/30/12. Any senior planning to attend college upon graduation may apply.  This scholarship is through the American Association of Univeristy Women Anthracite Branch.  For more information, contact the Guidance Office.

·     Edgar“Ted” Fenstermacher Scholarship: available to high school seniors planning to pursue a degree in agriculture or environmental science.  $100 toward college tuition.

·      Lavere McClure Scholarship: available to high school seniors planning to pursue a degree in natural sciences/environmental education.  $100towards college tuition.

·     Penn State Conservation Leadership School Scholarship: available to high school students interested in attending a 1 week summer session focusing on natural resource issues such as Watershed Stewardship, Forest Regeneration, Conservation Advocacy, & Biodiversity.  More information available at: http://conferences.cas.psu.edu/.  The scholarship is $400 toward tuition (TOTAL $520- student is responsible for $120).

To be eligible, the student must reside in the BHWF service area and be a graduating senior at one of the following schools: Berwick, Benton, Central Columbia, CMVT, Northwest, or West Side Vo-Tech.
 
The student must be accepted into a two-year or four-year college pursuing a health profession or one-or two year certification program.

These awards are offered for graduating seniors residing in the BHWF service area (Benton residents are included).  The senior must be enrolled in a two or four year college majoring in one of the following: pre-med, nursing, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, surgical technician.

This scholarship provides grants for college and vocational education to children of Pennsylvania workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident resulting in financial need. 
 
Applications are due by 4/16/12. 
 
www.kidschanceofpa.org  is where you can apply.

This scholarship is available to high school seniors who plan on majoring in human resources management, business administration or communications.
 
The scholarship is available on a competitive basis to a high school senior who attends high school in Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder or Union county. 
 
Applications and guidelines can be obtained at www.shrma.shrm.org
 
The applications will be accepted each year from 2/1-3/15.
