The Benton Parent-Teacher Council is an extremely active group of parent, guardian, and grandparent volunteers whose goal is to provide the students of Benton Elementary with extra educational items and fun activities that would not be normally provided by the Benton School District. Membership is only $5 per family per year. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00PM in the elementary school library. The group is always looking for new faces to join their efforts to support the elementary staff and students, and welcome any district resident to become a member. Everyone is welcome!

It is through this hard work and volunteer efforts, the kindergarten through sixth grade students at Benton Elementary are afforded many things that they otherwise would not be able to enjoy. PTC sponsors such events as: field trip buses, assemblies, book fairs, Santa Shop, Field Day, yearbook, John Manning Scholarship and special award parties. They also provide funding for classroom academic supplies, 6th grade T-shirts, individual classroom books, reading challenges/events, Kindergarten Clinic supply pack, Principal’s Awards banquet and much more. The monies raised for these items and activities come from only two major fundraisers each year. This year the fall fundraiser is Little Ceasars Pizza Kits, the spring fundraiser is Gertrude Hawk Candy and there will be no walk-a-thon this year.

PTC also raises money by collecting Box Tops for Education, Campbell’s soup labels and Tyson A+ Rewards. PTC provides prizes to those classes who collect the most Box Tops. Collection boxes are available in each classroom and cafeteria and can be brought in throughout the school year. Funds raised through these efforts are used to purchase school supplies and playground and gym equipment. This will be the last year for Campbell’s soup labels, so please get those turned in this school year so we can take advantage of this program before it ends.

Yearbook Photos Needed! PTC coordinates and produces the elementary school yearbook. The committee tries to get photos of a diverse group of student from all grades, but some grades are harder to obtain pictures than others. We would appreciate anyone who has clearances to serve as an ad hoc photographer for the yearbook. Anytime you are in the school for events or helping in the classroom, we would appreciate a few moments of your time to take photos of the event and even random photos of students in the classroom or recess pictures are appreciated.  You can share your photos with the Yearbook Committee by uploading them to the Yearbook eShare site at, our school code is #16901.  You can also send them to the Yearbook Committee’s email address at or share them through Facebook. 2018-2019 yearbooks will go on sale beginning December through May Day. Price of the books will be $14 per book. Book orders can be sent in through homeroom teachers or can be done online. Additional information will be available in December.

We have limited supply of the 2017-2018 yearbooks available for $14.00 per yearbook.  You can request a copy by completing the 2017-2018 order form and submitting it along with payment to the elementary school office. The order form is available here.

The PTC officers would like to thank all participating members for attending the meetings and sharing decision-making and PTC responsibilities.
