On Monday, January 8th, 41 Benton FFA members traveled to the Pennsylvania Farm Show for the PA FFA Mid-Winter Convention. During the convention, three members received the coveted Keystone FFA Degrees, and five got to zip their very own National Blue and Corn Gold corduroy jacket for the first time.

Each year the PA FFA Alumni Association runs a campaign to award jackets to deserving FFA members. Several of our first-year members completed applications, and five of them were amongst the 408 that were accepted. Congratulations to:

-Hera Efird

-Isabella Kubasek

-Kristen Doty

-Ryan Sellers

-Braeden Bear

While five students started their FFA career with a jacket, three capped theirs off with the Keystone State Degree. The Keystone Degree is the highest degree awarded by the state association. The applications are based on the student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) record books. They need to show evidence of earning or investing at least $1,000, working at least 300 hours, or a combination thereof. They also have to show at least 25 hours of community service to at least two different groups, and attend at least 10 chapter activities and 5 activities above the chapter level. Congratulations to:

-Tori Tingley

-Lillian Mueller

-Dana Kingsbury

(Note: We owe a special thank you to the Pennsylvania FFA Alumni, c/o Krista Pontius. The Alumni will not only replace Ryan Sellers’ brand new jacket, but they will also give Casandra one of her own.)
